Former Vice President and the winner of 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Al Gore has decided to part ways with his wife Tipper Gore, an eminent author and photographer. The relationship considered an inspiration for many has headed towards a disappointing end after a graceful togetherness of 40 years. It was just two weeks back that the couple had their 40th wedding anniversary.

The announcement from the couple came as an email on June 01. The Gores proclaimed their decision to be the result of mutual understanding and thoughtful consideration. In the email, the couple laid stress on the decision to be a private affair with no further scope of any clarification.

Going back to the history, the way Al and Tipper began their relationship is a well-known tale full of romance. The couple met on the occasions of Al’s senior prom in 1965 and the very next day, they went for their first date. Al proposed Tipper while walking along the banks of the River Charles and the couple tied the wedding knot on May 19, 1970.

Parents to four children and grandparents to three, Al and Tipper had been together during all difficult phases. Their son’s accident in 1989 and the long period of depression that followed were faced by the couple sharing each other’s strength. The couple had always credited each other for the ‘magic’ behind the relationship.

They also shared some wonderful moments while being together. People remember till date the long and passionate kiss the couple shared on stage at the 2000 Democratic National Convention. Only a few years back, Al Gore won the Noble Peace Prize for his climate change campaign and also an Oscar for his documentary.

What led to the decision of separation is a secret that the couple prefers to preserve. According to a close associate, the couple has been leading separate lives and the gap had kept on getting wider.

Only a few days following the couple’s decision, the news of their daughter Karenna Gore Schiff separated from her husband Andrew Schiff flashed. According to a close friend, the couple has been separated for a couple of months. The history repeats too soon sometimes!
