Paying for a Date: Knocking Down Old Traditions
The dating rules are those of which that are steeped in tradition, and really have been set into place a long time ago. Although many of them will probably not change for as long as society is in place, there is the need for many of them to be a little tweaked. They are characteristically geared toward what gentlemen should do during the date, circa sometime 1650. Some of them are still those that we should still live by, but others can be altered in a way to respect the modern woman. Let's imagine we're on a date with a new guy, or one that we've been seeing for a while. It's the whole dinner and a movie scenario, and he paid for the movie, and everything else that comes with a great movie experience. The dinner is over, the check arrives, should he pay for it? He already paid for the movie, does that mean he should pay for the dinner? While there may be a bigger differential, the token of gratitude is the same. This brings up one of a pretty substantial debate, one that's been going on for years. Is this particularly fair, although it's something that has been viewed as the way things are? The answer is something that's pretty simplistic, and has been a newer rule that's been floating around in the underground for a few years. So, sorry if we are disclosing any secrets that the dating professionals keep close to the vest. Here it goes: men should pay for a date when they are the ones requesting one. This is probably the most definitive answer because they've already established what this date will consist of, and balanced their finances accordingly. This may come as a shock for some women, those that are more traditional, but this is a new era of dating. Some efforts in chivalry, such as holding the door for a woman is not over, this is one rule that should be revamped. This is not to say that the man will not pay for the date, because most men will, but there's nothing wrong with paying for the date if the woman requests one. Of course, most men may put up a little fight beforehand, they'll usually concede on the basis that they are dating a quality woman. Basically, this is also a great way to earn some points. Men really want an independent woman, not only is it sexy, it equates to marriage material. Since this is what we are generally in the dating scene for, this is actually a very crucial part of the whole courtship process, and it should not be neglected. The date is somewhere where people like to imagine if they could see themselves sitting across the table for the rest of their lives. It's an audition, and it should be treated as such. Many prospective relationships have started at the dinner table, and if the woman brings her A-game, they will soon find out that it can be a reality.
