If you are in a long term relationship or even if you are married, then you will know that one of the most important things you will need to sort out is money. A lot of couples don’t do this together for some reason, and a lot of women will simply leave it to the man to sort everything out. However, this is certainly not healthy at all and discussing money matters together can really help you to become much closer as a couple and will help you both to understand what’s going on. But how exactly do you handle money matters as a couple, well here are a few pointers.
-
Keep everything fair: if you want to buy that new pair of shoes you have been looking at for months, then you may very well ask your husband for some money in order to buy them, or in some cases, just take the money. This is an extremely unhealthy way of going about things and you should learn to compromise if you have bills to be paid. Even if you have paid your bills and you still have money left over, you should not assume that this money is just to be spent on things like shoes, clothes, and make-up etc, however much you wish it was. You must take into account that your husband may want to buy something with the money and you should therefore distribute the money evenly between the two of you. -
Discuss Debt: A lot of people are in some form of debt these days, and more often than not this will mean that you will try to avoid the subject if this is the case for you and your husband. However, this is totally the wrong way to go about the matter and you will probably end up getting yourselves even more in debt. What you need to do is to discuss what the best way forward is. You need to be prepared to make sacrifices in order to get yourselves out of debt. Sacrifices will need to be made by both people in the couple.
